IMPERIAL TOPAZ

Topaz in its rarest colours

Imperial topaz is topaz in golden orange, pink and red. The main source is around Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, Brazil, a small district that has produced it for centuries.

Chromium gives the pink and red tones, and red is the rarest of all. Much pink topaz in trade is heated from orange or coloured by other means; natural, untreated pink to red stones are scarce.
